Message from the President
The Connecticut
Association of Housing Code Enforcement Officials was founded and incorporated on May 17, 1971 by code enforcement official
in cities and towns across the state who were responsible for enforcing housing code standards in their respected municipalities.
These 28 “Founding Fathers” had a vision to create a statewide organization that would provide education, training,
networking and advocacy on housing related issues.
In 37 years of existence the CAHCEO organization has grown to maintain representation
and contacts in all 169 cities and towns throughout the State of Connecticut and has a membership base of over 130 active
members. The membership receives training and education four (4) times each year in a variety of courses that range from building
safety to public health. The quarterly training has elevated the housing standards that we enforce to new awareness.
The educational training has also made our membership one of the most professionally trained and skilled code enforcement
organizations in the New England Region.
While serving on the CAHCEO Executive Board, I have dedicated myself to the advancement of
Code Enforcement Officials throughout the State of Connecticut by enhancing their skills through education and training. I
believe the professional development of Code Enforcement Officials will improve the quality of life for all those we protect
and serve. My term to serve as President will be an excellent opportunity for me to continue the work of the founding fathers
of our organization, which was to promote the professional development of housing code inspectors, to raise the minimum standards
of housing throughout the state and to create public awareness regarding safety and sanitary maintenance of dwellings.
The legacy of our Founding
Fathers continues to live through the CAHCEO organization with loyal support from each member dedicated to improving environmental
living conditions. As we continue in this new era of the organization with younger members becoming more involved with the
task of improving the current standards set by our predecessors, I will assume the responsibility of raising the standards
to educate all code enforcement officials involved with quality of life issues within the state and beyond. This is my vision
and the challenge I will accept as your President.
Ronald Miller
